The first session of the Chishiki programme was conducted by Dr. Sarika Sharma, who delivered an enlightening talk titled “Demystifying the Literature Review in Research.” The session highlighted the crucial role of the literature review as a foundational element of scholarly research, emphasizing that it extends far beyond a simple summary of existing studies. Dr. Sharma explained how an effective literature review involves critical analysis, synthesis of findings, and identification of research gaps, thereby helping scholars understand previously explored areas, adopted methodologies, and applied theoretical frameworks. She further discussed how evaluating the strengths and limitations of earlier research enables scholars to frame meaningful research questions and design robust studies. The session underscored the importance of the literature review in situating new research within the broader academic discourse and guiding researchers toward original and impactful inquiry.
