The Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research (SICSR), in collaboration with the Department of Sports, Recreation and Wellness (DSRW), successfully orchestrated the SIU Inter-Institute chess championship. This year’s tournament set a new benchmark for engagement, drawing a record 141 individual players and 20 teams to SIMS, Khadki, for two days of intense strategic competition.
Individual brackets saw a display of exceptional focus and tactical depth. In the Men’s division, Mayank Ranade (SIT Pune) claimed the top spot, followed by Sumukh Chourasia (SIT Nagpur) and Rachit Pandey (SCMC Pune).
The Women’s Division proved equally competitive, with Varsha R. Kodancha (SLS Pune) emerging victorious. Tulsi M (SIBM Pune) and Bhavya Gupta (SIT Hyderabad) rounded out the podium, securing second and third places respectively.
The event highlighted the power of collective strategy. SIT Pune dominated the field to take first place, while SIIB Pune and SCMS Pune secured the remaining podium positions after several hard-fought rounds on the boards.
The significant participation reflects the surging popularity of chess across SIU. The success of this event is a credit to the tireless efforts of the organizers, volunteers and the brilliance of the participants.
