The IIC Session on Thematic Research-Based Hackathon/Ideation in Campus was organized to familiarize students with the concept, structure, and importance of research-driven hackathons in promoting innovation. The speaker explained how thematic hackathons encourage students to move beyond theoretical learning and engage in practical problem-solving through creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and research

The session outlined the hackathon process: Problem Identification → Team Formation → Ideation → Research → Prototype Development → Presentation, and discussed the five-step ideation process along with the roles of students, mentors, industry experts, and judges. Participants learned about the benefits of hackathons, including skill development, teamwork, research exposure, enhanced institutional reputation, increased research output, and stronger industry collaborations.

The speaker also highlighted common challenges such as limited time, resource constraints, and coordination difficulties, while suggesting solutions like mentorship, workshops, and structured planning. Concluding with the theme "Turning Today's Research into Tomorrow's Solutions," the session inspired students to focus on real-world problems and develop innovative, research-based, feasible, and impactful solutions.
