The Symbiosis Institute of Computer Studies and Research (SICSR) successfully conducted a Faculty Development Programme (FDP) on “Internet Standards, Measurement and Research” as part of the AIORI-2 Faculty Workshop Series, a national initiative under the Advanced Internet Operations Research in India (AIORI) project.
The workshop was organized under the Train-the-Teacher scheme with the objective of strengthening academic capacity in Internet engineering, global standards, and measurement techniques. The session brought together faculty members, researchers, and participants from various institutions to deepen their understanding of the technical foundations that shape today’s Internet infrastructure.
The programme commenced with an inaugural address by Dr. Parag Ravikant Kaveri, Deputy Director, SICSR, who welcomed the participants and emphasized the importance of faculty upskilling in emerging Internet technologies. Dr. Rajashree Jain, Event Coordinator, highlighted the role of the IEEE Education Society in supporting continuous professional development initiatives. Dr. Mansi Subedar, West Zone Coordinator, IEEE IAYPC, outlined the nationwide impact of the AIORI workshop series.
The technical sessions were led by Dr. Anand Raje, CTO, The India Internet Foundation (IIFON), and Dr. Anupam Agarwal, IIFON. Throughout the day, participants engaged in in-depth discussions on Internet Engineering Task Force (IETF) standards, DNS fundamentals, protocol development, and Internet measurement and monitoring infrastructure. A live demonstration of the AIORI platform provided hands-on exposure to distributed Internet measurements and DNS analysis tools.
The FDP concluded with active interaction and knowledge exchange, equipping participants with practical insights to integrate Internet standards and measurement concepts into teaching and research. The programme reaffirmed SICSR’s commitment to fostering innovation, research excellence, and industry-aligned academic growth.
