On March 13, 2024, Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the youth at the ‘India’s Techade: Chips for Viksit Bharat’ event via video conferencing. He laid the foundation stone for three semiconductor projects worth approximately Rs 1.25 lakh crore, aimed at developing a semiconductor and display manufacturing ecosystem in India. This initiative, under the India Semiconductor Mission, seeks to establish India as a global leader in the semiconductor industry and create employment opportunities. The projects include India’s first Fab facility in Dholera, Gujarat, and two OSAT facilities in Sanand, Gujarat, and Morigaon, Assam. The event highlighted India’s commitment to advancing in AI, semiconductor design and production, and quantum computing. ‘India’s Techade’ represents a dedication to the digital age, sustainable development, and a robust global technological presence. The conference emphasized achieving Viksit Bharat @2047 through research and innovation, employing a holistic government and societal approach.
