Dr. Sandeep Gaikwad, delivered a session on topic " AI tools for research". Artificial Intelligence (AI) has fundamentally transformed the academic research lifecycle, shifting from manual information retrieval to AI-assisted synthesis and writing. This abstract examines the utility of three distinct yet complementary platforms—Claude, Consensus, and Paperpal—in streamlining scholarly workflows. Consensus acts as an evidence-based search engine, leveraging a database of over 200 million peer-reviewed articles to provide direct, citation-backed answers to research queries. By utilizing a “Consensus Meter” to visualize the scientific agreement on a topic, it effectively mitigates hallucination risks and accelerates preliminary literature scoping. Claude, a versatile large language model, serves as an intelligent reasoning partner. Its expansive context window and sophisticated analytical capabilities allow researchers to perform complex tasks such as synthesizing multi-document themes, drafting nuanced arguments, and refining technical explanations across diverse domains. Paperpal functions as a specialized academic writing assistant, integrating directly into word processors like Microsoft Word and Overleaf. It offers discipline-specific language refinement, grammar correction, and pre-submission checks to ensure manuscripts adhere to rigorous publication standards. Together, these tools create an end-to-end research ecosystem: Consensus for discovery, Claude for cognitive synthesis, and Paperpal for polished dissemination. Conscientious adoption of these technologies enhances researcher productivity while maintaining the integrity and quality of scholarly output.
