Title of the Event: Smarter Image Searches: CBIR Meets Grey Wolf Optimization
Date: 25/04/2025
Time: 3.30 pm to 4.30 pm
Venue: 203, SICSR
Mode: Offline
Event Co-coordinator: Dr. Prakash Raut
Speaker: Dr. Shilpa Sardesai, Assistant Professor, SICSR, Pune
Dr. Shilpa Sardesai delivered a captivating session on “Content-Based Image Search Engine with Grey Wolf Optimized Neural Network”, showcasing a powerful blend of image processing and artificial intelligence. The session focused on Content-Based Image Retrieval (CBIR), a technique that enables the retrieval of images from databases based on visual similarity to a query image, eliminating the need for manual text-based annotations. The innovative approach extracts feature vectors by combining Discrete Wavelet Transform (DWT) and Local Binary Patterns (LBP), capturing both texture and visual structure. To enhance accuracy, the system employs a Grey Wolf Optimized Neural Network (GWO-NN), inspired by the social hunting behavior of grey wolves. This hybrid model not only improves image classification but also opens new possibilities for efficient, intelligent image search systems in various domains such as healthcare, surveillance, and digital libraries.
