On 24th February 2025, Dr. Sandeep V. Gaikwad, Assistant Professor at SICSR, conducted an enlightening session on Precision Agriculture, a transformative approach reshaping the future of food production. The lecture emphasized how integrating advanced technologies such as Artificial Intelligence (AI), Machine Learning, Big Data Analytics, and the Internet of Things (IoT) is making agriculture smarter, sustainable, and more resource-efficient.
Dr. Gaikwad showcased how innovations like drones and satellite imagery enable real-time crop monitoring, while smart sensors optimize irrigation, nutrient delivery, and pesticide application. Attendees gained insights into cutting-edge tools like autonomous machinery, robotics, and variable rate technology (VRT), alongside the growing adoption of blockchain solutions for transparent, traceable supply chains.
As the global population increases and climate challenges intensify, the session highlighted how Precision Agriculture is emerging as a pivotal force in ensuring food security, enhancing yield quality, and promoting environmentally responsible farming practices through data-driven decision-making.
