Ms. Renuka Mukadam who is a member of Internal Committee of several organizations conducted an online session from 2 P.M. to 3 P.M. on Zoom as per UGC circular – to spread awareness regarding The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013. Apart from the act, UGC guidelines, Internal committee, Preventive measures, SIU policy also discussed in the session.
The terms that are being discussed based on women safety are Gender Sensitisation and gender equality, Beyond Pink and Blue, Different concepts – sex, Gender Identity, Sexuality/Orientation, Gender Expression, Gender Dysphoria.
The Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act,2013 defines workplace extensively-with notional extension, Only woman can complain, Acknowledges 3rd party Harassment, Responsibility of employer to provide safe working environment, Internal committee and provisions for redressal harassment through time bound procedure.
UGC guidelines define student in a gender-neutral manner, Wide definition of campus “act decisively against all gender-based violence perpetrated against employees and students of all sexes recognizing that primarily women employees and students of the third gender are vulnerable to many forms of sexual harassment and humiliation and exploitations.”
